Swallwell's out, Steyer's In

Well. That didn’t take long. Apparently 24 hours after my new blog went up, one candidate drops out of the race and another comes onboard.

On my main blog you will see a picture of the name of my blog, surrounded by the logos of the candidates who are participating in the 2020 race. Every time a person drops out, their logo will be removed and, depending on the size of candidate participation, that picture will automatically change (i.e. it could be random, then the next day a row of fours, and so forth)

The first candidate to drop is Eric Swallwell.

But hold on, the picture didn’t change. Did I misspoke? Apparently not. Because just a day after Swalwell announced his resignation, another candidate entered the race: Tom Steyer.

I have mixed feelings about it.

Steyer’s been fighting for Trump’s impeachment ever since day 1 when he took office. You may have seen his commercials, as he is a billionaire who has donated money to a good cause. He even signed The Giving Pledge which would donate half of their fortune during his lifetime. In October 2017, he spent $10 million of his own money to produce his first ad, and since then the Impeach Trump movement has been somewhat seen as a rallying cry. The Democrats even won back the Senate a year later.

Now the negative:
Like Trump, he’s also a billionaire with basically zero political experience. That’s a red flag. If he runs then that might hurt the other candidates’ momentum. Sure he did switch from running his business in 2012 to focusing on politics and the environment (and that’s also a good thing), but I don’t know a lot about his politics, basically what his positions are and whether he will support them or not. Sure, I am all in favor for impeaching Trump, and we need to make that our number one priority as America heads into the 2020 election, but what about afterwards? What will he bring if he gets elected on January 20, 2021?

I need to hear more about his politics in order to proceed forward, and if he is serious at this point about running or if this is a publicity stunt. Hey, at least he’s a better choice than Kanye.

What do you think? Let me know in the comments below whether you see Steyer as a viable candidate choice or not?.
